Walkers walks into several projects
Major replacement work at the Kelanitissa Power Station, Wellampitiya
to its bottom plate of the tank is being carried out by Walkers Company.
In addition, under the US Aid Sri Lanka Tsunami Reconstruction
Programme for the Construction of the Arugam Bay Bridge Replacement,
this Company carried out the erection and alignment of the bridge
structure for its clients Simplex Infrastructure Ltd and fabricated
Trestles and Grillages at our Central Workshops.
Under some of the other renovation work under taken by Walkers is
also the process of fabricating, constructing installing and
commissioning approximately 5000 mt. capacity steel Petroleum Oil
Storage Tank at Mutwal. This project is undertaken for its client Lanka
Marine Services (Pvt) Ltd.
Equipped with a dedicated staff and a formidable team of experienced
Engineers, the projects for both public and private sectors have been
carried out successfully.
The Company has also secured overseas development projects for the
construction of storage tanks in the Republic of Maldives and continues
to carry out further contracts in the Republic of Maldives.
On the mechanical engineering side of its business, Walker Sons and
Co. Engineers (Pvt) Ltd. has undertaken the mechanical and electrical
projects for the island’s power generation, petroleum, cement and steel
production, Water and Sanitarium Management, etc. Supported by an
Industrial Service Division, it meets the requirements of the
manufacturing and production industry offering its services for regular
prevention and shut down maintenance of existing plant and machinery.
In recent times largescale projects have been undertaken for Holcim
(Lanka) Ltd for erection of a coal grinding plant and structural steel
work for the Roller press building as well as replacing existing
Electrostatic Precipitator with a new dust bag on line filter at the
existing Palavi Cement Plant thus ensuring a clear “Blue Sky” in the
surrounding area.
Projects for the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka providing renovation
and replacement of spares at the Randenigala Spillway have been done.
Apart from the above, the Company also carries out many projects for
both the public and private sectors.
Delmege Distributors builds up non food product portfolio
Delmege Distributors, a subsidiary of the Delmege Forsyth Group of
Companies and one of Sri Lanka’s leaders in the marketing of branded
packaged food products, specializing in retail and wholesale
distribution and brand marketing, in a move to further expand their
product portfolio to include non food product items as well, entered
into an agreement with Print Xcel [a subsidiary of Ratna Book
Publishers] recently.
According to CEO Delmege Distributors, Dinesh Nalliah, DDPL will
exclusively distribute both single rule and square rule exercise books
under the brand name Ratna exercise books.
“We hope to introduce these exercise books which will be available in
80, 120, 160 and 200 pages in time for the new school year”.
Nalliah said the exercise books are made of high quality 60 GSM paper
imported from Indonesia, with a range of colourful and contemporary
covers. “Delmege Distributors are keen to expand their non food products
portfolio and we decided to commence this with stationery products for
which there is always a demand”, he said.
Nalliah went on to say that Ratna Book Publishers had been in the
publishing and printing business for over 50 years and together with
DDPL were keen on expanding their product portfolio.
