UTStarcom downloads next generation it
UTStarcom, a global leader in Internet Protocol based networks and
telecommunications solutions, is making its services available in Sri
Lanka.
The US based company, listed in the NASDAQ, is a specialist in
Internet Protocol TV (IPTV), Broadband and Next Generation Networks. The
latest in these technologies are now available in Sri Lanka through the
company’s local partner, Just In Time Holdings. UTStarcom and Just In
Time Holdings have already introduced the latest in Internet Protocol
based entertainment technology, IPTV, to Sri Lanka in an agreement with
Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT).
IPTV was introduced to the country in September this year by SLT,
under the brand name of ‘PEO TV ‘At this point, Sri Lanka is only the
second country in the South Asian region, behind India, to have IPTV
facilities.
IPTV technology can be used to personalise the TV experience through
facilities like Video on Demand, that allows viewers to select what they
want to watch, and Time Shifted TV, that allows viewers to watch their
favourite programmes later, if they miss a broadcast.
Emirates receives second A380
Emirates Airline has taken delivery of its second Airbus A380
superjumbo, bringing its all wide-bodied aircraft fleet to 122,
inclusive of freighters.
Emirates’ Executive Vice President Engineering and Operations Adel Al
Redha leading a group of Emirates engineers and executives onboard the
delivery flight, the double-decked aircraft will undergo standard checks
and maintenance before entering commercial service.
