Abundant maize harvest in Matale

The maize cultivation programme carried out under 'Api Wawamu - Rata Nagamu' programme in the Matale district proves to have drawn an abundant harvest according to the Secretary of Agrarian and Agro Development S.A.M. Gunatilaka.

He said last year maize had to be imported for animal feed, but this year it has been averted.

The Secretary said 16 Forward Sales Agreement of the Matale Branch of the Central Bank facilitated a lot, by which the maize harvest has found to be doubled.
