Hike in liquor prices

colombo: The price of local and foreign liquor has gone up by Rs. 50 per litre from October 8, Excise Department sources said.

The price of a litre of foreign liquor has gone up to Rs. 690 from its earlier price of Rs. 640 while a litre of arrack is Rs. 560 from its former price of Rs. 510.

Other price increases include a litre of wine to Rs. 415, a litre of beer to Rs. 48 from Rs. 38 while an increase of excise duty on specific items bought in bulk has gone upto Rs. 64. The price of a litre of beer has been increased by Rs. 10.
