AMCHAM Business Leaders Forum

The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) will host a half-day Business Leaders Forum on Tuesday, October 21 to address issues in economic and social sustainability of corporates titled: "Sustainable Business", to be held at the Hilton Colombo.

In association Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, the Forum is designed enhance understanding of how best practices in corporate sustainability can be used to drive business strategy and creative competitive advantage.

The panel discussion with panellists Amal Cabraal (Unilver Sri Lanka), Ravi de Silva (Aitken Spence), Feroz Omar (Brandix), Dr. Sumith Pilapitiya (World Bank) and Peter Spirig (Holcim Lanka) will be moderated by Sharmini Ratwatte, Chairperson of Environmental Foundation.

Regional chamber presidents conference

The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) will coordinate with the Regional Chambers to organise the Regional Chamber Presidents' Conference and the first such Conference is to be held in Anuradhapura on October 11, at the Central Bank Auditorium, Anuradhapura.

The keynote address will be delivered by Sri Suraj Prasad Agarwal, President, Federation of Andra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

New CEO/GM at HDFC Bank

Suresh Amerasekera, a Senior Banker with nearly 30 years of experience in commercial banking has been appointed as CEO/GM at HDFC Bank.

He had his initial training from the Colombo branches of State Bank of India, Bank of America and Citi Bank.

He was attached to Seylan Bank as an Assistant General Manager in charge of Colombo suburban region with 15 branches.

He holds a MBA (International) from Edith Cowan University, Perth Australia and Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting awarded by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK.
