Workshop for public representatives of Batticaloa district

Public representatives recently elected to local bodies in the
Batticaloa district together with the official staff have been greatly
benefitted by the six-day workshop organised by the Ministry, Local
Government and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon
said.
The Minister said so at the certificate awarding ceremony at the
conclusion of the workshop.
He said the holding of Local Government and Provincial Council
elections in the East had strengthened the democratic rights of the
people. It further strengthened democracy in the East specially after
the liberation of the province from the tyrannical LTTE grip.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Local Governance organised the workshop
where 60 public representatives from the Manmunai, Manmunai (North
East), Erawilpaththu, Koralepaththu and Eravur Pradeshiya Sabhas and 40
officials were among the participants. Principles of Local Government
Administration and Local Government Ordinance Strategies in public
service were the main topics discussed.
The lectures were delivered by qualified and experienced resource
personnel in the Tamil medium. |
