Ramazan messages
Islam means peace
S. Alavi Mowlana, Governor (W.P.)
“All praise be to Allah and may his blessings and peace be upon the
Holy Prophet and his family and His companions.”
I am very pleased to share the joy and significance of this day with
my fellow Muslims. We have reached this day after spending one whole
month on pious religious obligations day in and day out. The great
tidings for all these are nothing but abode in Jennathul Firdouse Insha
Allah.
May I take this opportunity to draw your attention to some pertinent
matters that arise in our midst. The main threat to our own existence
and purity of our religion emerges from the vicious doctrines which were
rejected by our learned Ulamas years ago appear in different garbs now.
The young and innocent fall for this for various unknown reason. The
perpetrators adopt meanest ploys to trap the innocents. It has cast
responsibility on me to warm of these dangers that beset our religion.
Islam means Peace. Islam has codified certain rules if and when an
Islami State goes to war. These edicts cannot be changed any time now
even by the so called present day Theologians. See what is happening
around us now. There is no martyrdom as far as present day conflicts
that are prevalent in the Islamic World is concerned. Hence suicide
bombings are foreign to our religion.
Those who advocate such tactics have copied from elsewhere. As such,
I kindly appeal to my fellow Muslims to think before you Embark upon new
practices. Don’t bring division among us. Please be United and be
assured that no calamity would fall on us.
May Allah shower his best on all of us in the coming years Wassalam.
Dedicate to meet future challenges
A.H.M. Fowzie Minister of Petroleum and Petroleum Resources
Development
Today, Muslims throughout the world celebrate Eidul Fitr, the
Festival of Charity. This day marks the completion of a month of fasting
by Muslims as ordained by Allah. Fasting has revived our body and soul
and kindled our feelings for the less-privileged brethren.
Ramazan has been a month for forgiveness, patience, generosity and
humanitarian deeds. In Ramazan, Allah grants forgiveness to those who
repent for their sins and seek his forgiveness. Above all, it is a month
to seek protection, guidance, strength and support of Allah towards
peaceful life and the successful attainments of our goals.
Ramazan provided us the opportunity to prepare ourselves to be
deserving to receive Allah’s mercy and refuge. Unfailingly, Allah grants
our pleas if we ask for it with true piety and purity of heart by
surrendering ourselves totally to his domain. He will never forsake
those who have the trust in Him.
Having completed a month of fasting, Muslims, today have earned the
satisfaction of Allah and this should give them strength to accomplish
their obligations to society. The task ahead of us is to create a
peaceful environment in the country where people of all communities will
be ensured sufficient safeguards to their life, property, dignity and
honour, besides facilitating the fulfilment of their needs and
aspirations.
On this day of Eidul Fitr, I therefore, appeal to the Muslims of Sri
Lanka that they should, with new energy gained from dutiful submission
to Allah, resolve to dedicate themselves to meet the challenges of the
future, while being a community firmly committed to fostering love and
fellowship among all people in the country.
I convey my sincere greetings to all my Muslim brothers and sisters.
Eid Mubarak.
Work together for common good
Ferial Ismail Ashraff, M.P. Minister of Housing and Common Amenities
and Leader,
National Unity Alliance (NUA)
By the Grace of Almighty Allah, we are celebrating Edi-ul Fitr this
year in the midst of challenging environments, after a month of fasting,
and prayers and charitable deeds during the Holy Ramazan.
Fasting teaches us among other things self-discipline. It helps us to
control ourselves against lowly desires, to exercise self-restraint and
to be patient when faced with adverse conditions and challenges.
In this context it has become incumbent upon all Muslims to do some
reflection amidst the festivities and to devise methods to seize the
opportunity of peace prevailing now, to work and living in harmony with
all other communities in further accelerating the noble path of
achieving total peace with dignity, in this our motherland.
It is also a time to take our thoughts to our unfortunate brethren in
other parts of the world who are being harassed and being coerced into a
life of murder, mayhem, misery, persecution and subjugation and to pray
for their freedom liability from the evil forces.
I appeal all muslims to work together for the common good of
ourselves and for all other communities. Communal harmony and national
unity are our strength and we cannot unite as one nation until and
unless we forget self and work for the progress and welfare of all of us
with a Sri Lankan identity. May Almighty Allah Guide us all through
these critical times to reach the high ideals ordained by our faith and
practised during the Holy month. Eid Mubarak
Permanent peace should be our prayer
M. Ruzaik Farook President Sri Lanka Islamic Society
On this joyous occasion Muslims throughout the world celebrate “Eid
ul Fitr” Ramazan festival after a month long fasting. This festival
generates immense satisfaction among the children and adults purely due
to completion of fasting on the command of Almighty Allah.
Excerpts from the message:
Fasting along with Zakath (charity) which occupied a prominent place
in the month of Ramazan to uplift suffering of the underprivileged
segments of the Society, educates us to look after the needs of the
society at all times to all people within caste, creed or racial
differences.
On this special occasion we pray Almighty Allah to restore much
needed peace and understanding among our Sri Lankan brothers and sisters
and usher peace and harmony among all communities and prosperity to our
motherland.
We take this opportunity when Muslims in Sri Lanka are rejoicing this
day to congratulate President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Government of
their commitment of hails eternal wind of peace through sri Lanka their
hand of friendship should be accepted to usher in peace among all
communities and prosperity to our motherland.
I wish all Muslims a very happy “Eid Mubarak”
Fasting promotes unity, fraternity
Wimal Weerawansa MP - National Freedom Front President
Ramazan festival which falls today signified that Muslims performed
their duties and responsibilities properly, said the National Freedom
Front in a message yesterday.
The message signed by NFF President Wimal Weerawansa MP, said the
Islam followers the world over celebrated Ramazan (Eid Ul Fitr) after a
month of fasting in the name of Allah.
Through this fast, followers of Islam promoted unity and fraternity
towards the world community. By realising the pangs and difficulties of
poor and less fortunate, they donated Zakat for them.
Peace among all communities
M.H. Mohamed, MP Minister of Parliamentary Affairs
I have great pleasure in conveying to the Muslim Ummah my sincere
greetings on the dawn of yet another Eid Ul Fitr.
May the blessing of Ramazan which has bestowed on the Muslim Ummah,
the Mercy and Forgiveness carry a very satisfactory and favourable
message about us to the Almighty which is our ultimate goal. I sincerely
supplicate that Almighty Allah prevails the all important peace,
tranquillity and understanding between the communities in Sri Lanka and
the world over. Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous Eid-Ul-Fitr.
Time, peace and harmony is cherished
M. Najeeb Abdul Majeed, Minister of Co-operatives
The important prayer of Muslims today is that peace and harmony
should cherish in this country, especially at this critical time when
the ethnic problem has taken the shape to a severe war, said Najeeb
Abdul Majeed, Minister of Co-operatives in his message on the occasion
of celebrations the Holy Ed-Ul-Fitr.
He further said, the war resumed at a time when the Government took
an initiative to bring peace, which failed. The expectations and prayers
of all people is that peace and prosperity should prevail. He wished
that circumstances should be created for it on this auspicious day.
Muslims in the world live without peace of mind. It is very
unfortunate that they are branded as fundamentalists and suppressed by
imperialists. The dawn for Muslims depends on their unity. No force can
shatter them if they refrain from doing deeds unrelated to Islam and
lead a righteous life. It is pertinent that Muslims should unite in
diversity forgetting their political and policy differences.
We would prosper, if we continue to do good deeds during the Holy
Ramazan period on this hour when the Ramazan bids farewell from us.
Let’s live a peaceful and exemplary life
Omar Kamil - President MICH
Moors’ Islamic Cultural Home (Inc) wishes to extend its greetings to
the Muslim Ummah who are celebrating the Eid-Ul-Fitr today. We are
really happy in sharing the joy with all our brothers and sisters on
this holy occasion.
Eid-Ul-Fitr is one of the two great feats in the Islamic Calendar.
This festival which marks the completion of a month long fast has been
described as the “Day of Reward” by Holy Prophet Mohammed (OWBP) and a
Day of Thanksgiving to Almighty Allah for having enabled us to perform
our duty of fasting on His command.
Muslims throughout the world are celebrating Eid today after a month
of fasting during which the affluents and those who are more fortunate
are expected to distribute their wealth to the poor and the needy as
prescribed in the Holy Quran.
On this sacred day in the Islamic calendar, let us all pray to
Almighty Allah to grant permanent peace and happiness to our dear
motherland which has seen much suffering among all communities over the
past decades.
Let us resolve on this great day to live a peaceful and an exemplary
life according to the great teachings laid down in the Holy Quran and
the message of Holy Mohammed (OWBP). May the Almighty Allah Bless Sri
Lanka with Peace and Prosperity. Eid Mubarak. |
