World Children's Day messages
Govt. accomplished many tasks towards betterment of children -
President
In every country the children constitute its posterity. Any effort to
improve their lot will in turn help make the country's future more
meaningful, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa issuing a message to mark
the World Children's Day.
It said: To guarantee a better future for our children, our
Government has accomplished many a task which no other Government has
ever attempted. A separate Child Development and Women Empowerment
Ministry was set up and the security of the children has been assured.
The year 2006 had been declared the National Children's Year. Since then
the present Government has done its utmost to ensure the security and
development of the child.
However, in a social, economic and cultural environment which is
often in change and flux, the children have to face challenging
situations in the family, school and society at large. Consequently, the
parents, teachers and adults owe a greater responsibility to make their
lives more secure.
It is therefore incumbent on them to listen to the child and
understand him so that the world of the children as well as the future
world would be peaceful and beautiful.
I wish the World Children's Day which we commemorate under the theme,
"Let us listen to the children and make the world more beautiful," be a
strength to make the children's well-being and security, a success. |
