Millennium goals roundtable in New York

A top-level roundtable conference of Heads of State on the realisation of the Millennium Development goals was the main item in yesterday's UN agenda.

Heads of State drew their attention to the difficulties envisaged in the achievement of eight global development priorities by 2015.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in the roundtable conference on the elimination of poverty and hunger.

He was also due to engage in bilateral talks with Iranian President, Ahamadinejad.

President Rajapaksa was also due to hold talks with his Latvian counterpart Valdis Zatlers.
