Lanka to host C'wealth conference on global terrorism
New York: Commonwealth leaders attending the 63rd UNGA
Sessions had a separate meeting in New York on Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting presided by Uganda's President Yuweri Museveni reviewed
at length the progress achieved on agreements reached at the last
Commonwealth Summit held in Uganda said the press release by the
Presidential Secretariat yesterday.
The leaders also paid attention to the arrangements made regarding
the proposed Commonwealth Conference on global terrorism to be held in
Sri Lanka early next year.
They also agreed to convene an early meeting of officials to ensure
the success of the proposed conference.
Among other matters which gained the attention of Commonwealth
Leaders were global environmental and Food Crisis, Security and
Reconstruction work to be done by International Organisations. President
Mahinda Rajapaksa drew the attention of Commonwealth leaders towards the
need to foster close co-operation between the Commonwealth and SAARC. |
