Turkey praises special relief programme for displaced

Gul said this during bilateral talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the United Nations headquarters held on the sidelines of the 63rd UNGA sessions on Wednesday afternoon.

A Presidential Media Unit release said Gul recalled that as much as Sri Lanka Turkey too was facing a separatist terrorist problem. Turkey too had a long experience about the acts of terrorists and the humanitarian operations carried out by the Sri Lanka Government led by President Rajapaksa was a great example to the whole world.

During the talks President Rajapaksa thanked President Gul and the Turkish Government for the assistance rendered to Sri Lanka during the tsunami tragedy. President Gul also accepted an invitation extended by President Rajapaksa to visit Sri Lanka. The two parties also agreed to promote tourism and open a direct airlink between the two countries.
