Edna partners with Cadbury

Edna Group through E I & M Pvt Ltd entered into a MoU with Cadbury India Limited to jointly promote the cultivation of cocoa plantations in Sri Lanka.

The MoU was signed by the Managing Director of Cadbury India Limited, Anand Kripalu and Chairman of Edna Group, B.R.S.T. (Lal) Edirisinghe in Colombo.

Cadbury has over several decades developed expertise in cocoa cultivation in India, producing high yielding cocoa plants.

Cadbury has agreed to provide technical advice, guidance and direction to Edna for promoting the cocoa cultivation activities in Sri Lanka.

With excellent quality of soil and climatic conditions in several regions of Sri Lanka, the initiative will help improve the availability of cocoa beans of high quality, which on one hand will provide raw material for cocoa processing by Edna, and on the other hand will provide employment opportunities and foreign exchange earnings for the country.

Edna will float a new company, dedicated for this specific purpose.
