Aid workers to complete pull-out by Sept 29

Humanitarian assistance to be continued from Vavuniya:

Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said yesterday that the United Nations and other aid groups re-commenced their pull- out from Kilinochchi and were expected to complete the re-location process in Vavuniya by September 29.

Vigilance of bus crew averts major disaster

A major disaster was averted yesterday due to timely action by a conductor and a driver of a CTB bus plying from Mattakkuliya to Moratuwa. They evicted around 60 passengers from the bus after taking it to a safer place close to Horton Place roundabout minutes before a suspected parcel bomb exploded inside.
