Loyal workers boon to institutions, country - President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa noted yesterday that workers are increasingly striving to protect their workplace and the country instead of merely thinking about salary issues. The President said this was a major fillip to the Government's efforts to defeat terrorism and usher in peace.

The President was addressing a progress review meting of SriLankan Airlines held yesterday at Temple Trees.

The SriLankan management, trade union representatives and employee representatives participated.

Trade Union leaders apprised the President of the lack of certain human and physical resources which has hindered SriLankan's capacity to operate. The President directed officials to address these concerns. He stressed the importance of the public service component of SriLankan.

The employees should protect vital State owned enterprises and serve their institutions with dedication.

Ministers Chamal Rajapaksa and Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga also participated.
