Rahman 125 helps B'desh total 340/5

Middle order batsman Shamshur Rahman hit a splendid 125 to help the touring Bangladesh Academy team reach an impressive 340 for 5 in their first innings on the opening day of their four day match against Sri Lanka Academy which began at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium yesterday.

Rahman played the sheet anchor role while stroking fifteen boundaries and also put on 179 runs for the fourth wicket along with Marshal Ayub who hammered a fluent 78 inclusive of ten boundaries.

The two spinners Suraj Mohamed and Seekuge Prasanna captured two wickets each for the home side who had earlier won the toss and elected to field first.

Bangladesh Academy: 340 for 5 in 90 overs (Shamshur Rahman 125, Marshal Ayub 78, Imrul Kayes 45, Mahabubul Kareem 24, Suraj Mohamed 2 for 57, Seekuge Prasanna 2 for 97) v Sri Lanka Academy.
