Police probe Kandy link with priest arrested at airport

Police have launched inquiries regarding a priest and a seminary in
Kandy following the arrest of a priest suspected of importing high-tech
equipment including walkie-talkies, GPSs etc from Singapore allegedly
for the LTTE.
Forty GPS equipment and 30 walkie-talkies were recovered from the
priest when he was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport on
Friday.
Police said the priest who was staying at a centre for training
priests in Negombo, maintained contacts with his counterpart at the
Kandy seminary.
Police are conducting further inquiries. |
