US Embassy supports American University Exhibition

The United States Embassy for the first time supported American
University Exhibition which was held at the Colombo Hilton on September
5 -6.
The exhibition titled US University Road Show had an encouraging
response from the parents and students and it was a very good
opportunity for them to gather valuable information and clarify their
doubts .CEO ,American National College Punarjeeva Karunanayake said.
It was the largest free and open to public exhibition held so far for
parents and students to learn about higher education in the US directly
from twenty two universities and the US Embassy staff and qualified
education advisors from the Fullbright Commission were also present.
US Ambassador Robert Blake addressing the gathering at the opening
ceremony of the education fair said that over 2000 Sri Lankan students
attended universities in America last year and that number is increasing
every year.
He encouraged the students to consider the diverse higher education
opportunities available at American universities to develop their future
and the future of Sri Lanka. The US has over 4000 institutions of higher
learning offering more than 900 programmes of study.
The US embassy in conjunction with ANC Education holdings hosted the
exhibition.
The 22 universities represented at the Fair included Baylor
University in Texas, Case Western Reserve University Ohio, Montana State
University, Minnesota State University, North Dakota State University
and North Wood University which offered a number of two year Associated
Degree programs, four year Bachelor's Degree programmes Master's and
Doctorates. |
