JVP tries to create subversive culture

The JVP is trying to create a subversive culture in the universities
through the anti-democratic actions of students, said Jathika Hela
Urumaya Leader Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thera at a media conference
yesterday.
The students belonging to Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and Burger
communities should have the rights to study in any university of the
country without any discrimination, the Thera added.
He said the JHU strongly condemned the recent protest campaigns
organised by the JVP opposite the University Grants Commission
misleading the parents of students against the decision of its Chairman
on the issue of considering all universities at same level. The JVP has
clearly attempted to underestimate the military victories by organising
such protest campaigns, the Thera said. Some Bhikkus were trying to go
beyond the students' rights by representing protest campaigns, said
Medhananda Thera. |
