All ADB funds exclusively for Pc’s

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to channel all ADB funds exclusively towards development projects under Provincial Councils, Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene said.

Addressing the media in Colombo yesterday, the Minister said funds are being allocated through the Central Government to carry out the infrastructure development projects under the PCs. Under this scheme a number of roads, schools, electricity and water supply projects have been improved in large measure especially in the rural areas.

Hitherto there had been a shortage in the channelling of funds for infrastructure development projects coming under the Provincial Authorities.

Therefore President Mahinda Rajapaksa decided to divert all ADB funding for development projects to be implemented at provincial level. ”People have responded positively to the Government’s ongoing infrastructure development projects despite the costly war with the LTTE,” the Minister said.
