Unauthorised fund collection

The Sri Lanka Scout Association said it has been brought to their notice that some persons are collecting money by selling ‘Stickers’ and circulating donation lists from the public. The public are advised not to give money to such unauthorised callers or seekers.

Any document for collection of funds for Sri Lanka Scout Association will carry the signature of the Chief Commissioner with the Sri Lanka Scout Associations name and Logo. The District Associations will be collecting money on documents with signature of the District Commissioner under the name of the District Association with the approval of the Chief Commissioner.

Car wash

A car wash to purchase medicine for children at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital will be held on August 24 from 8 am to 2 pm at High Level Road, next to the Kiddies Park (opposite Laugh Petrol Station).

Workshop

A workshop on Human Values in Water Sanitation and Hygiene Education organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Organisation of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the United Nations World Habitat will be held on August 31 from 9 am to 5.30 pm at Ceylon Continental Hotel, Colombo. Home Affairs and Public Administration Minister Karu Jayasuriya will preside.

Public lecture

Dr. Andreas Gronauer, Vice Chairman of the Institute of Agriculture technique of the Bavarian State Research Unit in the Federal Republic of Germany, will deliver a lecture on ‘Biogas Energy - industrial models’ on August 22, at 5.30 p.m. at the German Cultural Centre Auditorium No. 39, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.

Entrance is free.

Workshop

Sri Sathya Sai Sewa Organisation, Sri Lanka in collaboration with the United Nations World Habitat has organised a workshop series on Human Values in Water Sanitation and Hygiene Education on August 30 and 31 from 9 am to 5 pm at Ceylon Continental Hotel, Sapphire Room.

Entrance is free for selected gurus, teachers and educationist from schools and higher educational institutions.

Discussion

The Disaster Management Centre, Environment Committee of SLAAS and UNDP will conduct a public discussion series on DRR and related issues, under the theme ‘Community Responsibility in Floods’ on August 25 from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the SLAAS Auditorium, Colombo 7.

Memorial oration

The K.C Kamalasabayson Memorial Oration will be held this evening at the HNB Towers.

It will be attended by members of the judiciary, the Chief Justice, the Attorney General and members of the legal fraternity.

The evening will also witness the presentation of the K.C Kamalasabayson Award for Critical Scholarship in Public Law and the release of a legal book of essays on Public Law.

Get-together

The Sri Lanka Naval Association will celebrate its Mid Year Get-together on August 31 from 9.30 am at the Sugathadasa Sports Hotel, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha, Colombo 14.

Conference

The SAARC Finance Governors’ Symposium and the Inaugural International Research Conference will be held from August 21-22 from 8.30 am at the John Exter International Conference Hall, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
