Enjoining Order preventing CWE to enter budget shop extended

Colombo Additional District Judge Mackie Mohammed on Tuesday extended the enjoining order that prevented CWE Director Board and its Chairman from entering the Rajagiriya Budget Shop and removing the goods in those shops until August 27. The Court also ordered the parties to file objections and answers on August 27, 2008.

The Court earlier issued the order following five shop owners of the Budget Shop sued CWE before the Colombo District Court alleging that they have the right to run their businesses at the Budget Shop which is closed at the moment and the closure was illegal.

The Plaintiff cited the Budget Shop was closed by its Officer-in-Charge on July 18 in view of the SAARC Summit. Although the SAARC Summit came to an end on August 3, the Budget Shop was not opened.
