Wasala was hospitalised after the attack which occurred near the Elidivilleva playground in Eppawala. The goons had also set fire to the double cab pickup he was travelling in.

They had fled the area after committing the crime and the Anuradhapura Police are on their trail. In other major incidents, a van bearing the number 59-0712 has been shot at by unknown persons.

Another group had vandalised and destroyed the Maradankadawala UPFA elections office.
