‘Sabaragamuwa PC has rendered yeoman service to masses’

The former Chief Minister of Sabaragamuwa PC Maheepala Herath addressing a large number of his supporters consisting of all political hues of blue, red and green at a cell meeting said that undoubtedly the People’s Freedom Alliance will emerge victorious both in Sabaragamuwa and in the North Central Province.

He said he was highly pleased to observe a number of former supporters of both UNP and the JVP have assembled here at this occasion to guarantee his triumph at the election.

He requested all his campaigners to convince both in urban localities, and particularly in rural areas the enormous work. The Sabaragamuwa PC has performed under his patronage as its Chief Minister.

In his period of office as Chief Minister enormous work has been performed to uplift the living conditions of rural masses in Sabaragamuwa both incurring Sab PC. funds and over Rs. 600 million of funds provided by the central government in the recent past.

Herath requested each and every campaigner to convince the voters the benefits the government of President Rajapaksa had provided.

These development funds have been channelled while spending many billions of rupees to procure sophisticated modern weaponry to the three Forces as well as the Police to redeem the country from the terrorist clutches.

He said that President Rajapaksa never fondled the terrorists unlike some previous presidents.

“The President was so bold and candid when he resorted to the only available remedy when the terrorists continued to massacre the civilians, the pregnant mothers and children, the clergy and their own Tamil Leaders declared a humanitarian conflict with the firm determination to reply with war, and from war alone to decimate terror, and if not for President’s timely action the whole country would have perished with all its ancient civilisation and all its train of achievements in the fields of knowledge, culture, education, fine arts, heritage etc. “Now the battle against the terrorists is almost completed and the terrorists are dying.

The country will be liberated very soon bringing peace and prosperity to the people. “The PC has done both through Sabaragamuwa PC funds and with the funds provided by government enormous services for the welfare of Sabaragamuwa Province making Sabaragamuwa the leading Province in whole island implementing the most people friendly activities performed on an accelerated basis.

Therefore, owing to the manifold development activities carried out in the Kegalle district spending many billions of rupees the grateful public, specially the rural masses, it is hoped will cast their valuable votes for the People’s Freedom Alliance giving it an unparalleled victory, the former Chief Minister Herath said.
