High demand for mobile software developers
Sri Lanka holds the first place in training mobile technology in the
world, President of the Chamber of Chartered Java Professionals Sri
Lanka, Ishantha Siribaddana said.
The Institute of Java and Technological Studies (IJTS) started mobile
technology training programmes two years back even before Sun
Microsystems started training programmes in USA.
The mobile software developers have a huge demand in the
international job market and in UK one developer could earn nearly
13,000 pounds per month. This is a good foreign exchange earner for the
country.
“With the advent of the next technological era, mobile software
application development will play a major role, since mCommerce
contributes dramatically for the economic growth in the country,
anywhere around the globe.
The mobile phone will be capable to provide all facilities to
implement mCommerce requirement, Siribaddana said. So far IJTS has
provided mobile technology training for around 500 students.
We have the expertise to provide this training to the foreign
students too. But it is important for us to educate our youth on this
technology and derive advantages for Sri Lanka”. “Our student population
has huge capacity to develop world class software. Local students need
methodical training to get acquainted to the subject.
It is understood that their logical understanding power is much
higher than the foreign students,” he said. “Machinery based hard
technology is not suitable for a country like Sri Lanka. The brain
capacity of the people can be used to earn foreign currency using this
soft technology through Java Technology.
The labour- based economy can be converted into knowledge based
economy to make a better service oriented country like Sri Lanka,” he
said.
IJTS is an institute which provides training on Java technology. IJTS
provides training programmes for all Java examinations. |
