President Mahinda Rajapaksa said last night that it was imperative for the Government to know the pulse of the people by holding elections.

‘UNP planning polls day violence’

There is a conspiracy in the UNP to stage a number of incidents to intimidate and agitate people on the election day in the North Central Province and put the blame for such violent activities on the UPFA candidates headed by former North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said yesterday.
