More UNPers, JVPers join UPFA
Over 600 UNPers and about 50 JVPers in Eheliyagoda, Ratnapura,
Rakwana and Balangoda electorates defected to the UPFA and obtained SLFP
membership from Power and Energy Minister, W.D.J. Seneviratne recently.
They said they wanted to contribute their mite to the rapid
development programmes initiated by the Government and to President
Mahinda Rajapaksa’s valiant efforts to wipe-out the northern terrorism
that they crossed over to the UPFA.
On the initiative of Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne, a number of
infrastructure development projects in Rakwana, Eheliyagoda, Ratnapura
and Balangoda electorates were commissioned.
The Minister who commenced the work of Rakwana Yatipasgamuwa
electricity scheme (Rs. 11.7 million), Hatangala electricity scheme (Rs.
12 million) and Mudunkotuwa electricity scheme (Rs. 12.5 million).
Under “Electricity for All” programme, a sum of Rs. 8,500 million is
spent for supply of electricity to each village in Hambantota and
Ratnapura districts. The programme will be extended to Kegalle,
Moneragala, Kandy, Matale, Badulla, Trincomalee, Anuradhapura and
Polonnaruwa districts in due course. |
