Ajantha Mendis joins BOC Credit Card family

Sri Lanka’s newest spin sensation Ajantha Mendis joined Bank of Ceylon international gold credit card family, and will be the Brand Ambassador for international gold and master credit cards as well of Bank of Ceylon.

Here Deputy General Manager (Branches) I D Weerasena handing over the International gold credit card to Ajantha Mendis at a reception held recently.

Assistant General Manager (Credit Card Centre) Sarath Stambo and Chief Manager (Product and Development Banking) Nimal Fernando are also in the picture.

 

 


American Express ties up with Allianz Insurance

American Express, the Credit Card acquired and issued in Sri Lanka solely by Nations Trust Bank PLC announced the tie up with Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited, in a bid to enhance the insurance cover offered to Green, Gold and Corporate Cardmembers.


Senior Manager Marketing, American Express at Nations Trust Bank PLC Lewie Diasz together with CEO Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd Surekha Alles at the Royal Colombo Golf Club during the official agreement of the enhanced new Insurance benefits for American Express Cardmembers.

In addition to the existing benefits such as personal accident cover, trip delay or cancellation and loss of baggage, the enhanced offers will provide increased facilities offering overseas travel, security, and protection for the main Cardmember and his/her family.

Cardmembers may also now for the first time in Sri Lanka enjoy four new unique features available exclusively for American Express Cardmembers.

1. Golfer’s Hole-in-One

In celebration of achieving a hole-in-one during a tournament played outside Sri Lanka, Cardmembers stand the chance to have their expenses reimbursed by American Express, subject to a maximum limit of USD 250.

The tournament should be played at a golf course recognised by the United States Golfer’s Association (USGA). 2. Grand Prix Checkered Flag When a Cardmember purchases tickets to the Formula One/Grand Prix races and should the event be cancelled due to adverse weather, American Express will reimburse the tickets up to USD 1,000.

3. Tennis Winning Sets

In the event of cancellations of the semi-finals or finals of any Tennis Championship such as the Wimbledon, US Open, Australian Open or the French Open matches - American Express will reimburse the Cardmembers’ ticket up to the value of USD 750.

4. World Cup Specials

American Express will reimburse the Ticket up to USD 500 for cancellations of any World Cup Semi-Finals/Finals match for Rugby, Soccer or Cricket. Commenting on these new services, DGM Consumer Banking at Nations Trust Bank PLC Renuka Fernando said,

“We are pleased to offer our Cardmembers enhanced insurance covers in addition to these exciting new privileges and we are certain these unmatched offers will be of great value especially to those interested in sports.

As a premium card in the market our goal is to continuously offer innovative new services and privileges making American Express simply the best card in your wallet,” she added.


NDB Badu Malla - a winner every weekday

NDB Bank has launched a promotion for its savings accounts holders tiled “Badu Malla” giving its customers the chance to save and win every weekday. It’s the first time in Sri Lanka that customers have the chance of winning a Rs. 5,000 Cargills Gift Card, every month - for six months. The winners will be selected through a draw that will be held every weekday.

To be eligible to take part in the NDB Badu Malla draw the customers have to deposit Rs. 5000 in their savings account.

A draw will be held every weekday from August 18 to February 17, where a selected winner will receive a Cargills gift card worth 5,000 Rupees from NDB Bank, for six months.

In addition, 10 separate selected winners will receive a gift card of thousand rupees each, entitling them to groceries worth Rs. 1000. The “Badu Malla” promotion is carried out by NDB Bank in conjunction with Cargills Food City and all prizes are offered through Cargills Food City outlets islandwide.

By opening a NDB Bank Savings Account depositors will be eligible to be a lucky winner at “NDB Badu Malla”. NDB Badu Malla draw is not the only benefit that NDB Bank’s Savings Account holders are entitled to.

When opening an account, they will also receive a Visa enabled ATM/Debit card free of charge, which will give access to their accounts through over 1,000 Visa enabled ATMs island wide.The card could also be used for payments at visa-enabled merchant establishments across the island.

Palm top banking from People’s Bank

People’s Bank launched its latest service offer to its customers with the introduction of palm top banking. This move aims to take the bank to the people addressing their banking requirements on the spot, leading to increased efficiency and functionality, while also being a part of the anywhere - anytime banking process of People’s Bank.

The first transaction was carried out at a ceremony held recently at the Manning Market in Pettah, one of the busiest markets in Sri Lanka, with the participation of many enthusiastic traders, and the corporate management and staff of People’s Bank.

Through palm top banking, customers will be able to open an account, make deposits or withdrawals, apply for loans, make balance inquiries and do reversals.

Operated through palm top-equipped People’s Bank officers who will come to the customer whether it is a home, business premise or work place, this service will undoubtedly save people’s time and effort and help ease the pressures of hectic day-to-day lives.

Addressing the gathering at Manning Market, Chairman of People’s Bank W. Karunajeewa, said, “People’s Bank always has the aspirations of the people in its mind in all its activities, and products and services.

The introduction of this new service of palm top banking is one such way in which the Bank is looking after the welfare of the people.

We want to see our customers achieve their goals, and give all the support we can through this type of new service offer.”

Also speaking at the event was Senior Deputy General Manager - Business Support and Productivity Management, P. V. Pathirana, who maintained that modern day changes in technology and related innovations have reversed the traditional method of people visiting the bank.

“Today, the Bank visits the customer, and People’s Bank too is proud to join this customer-oriented service offer through the introduction of palm top banking.”

Head of Marketing and Public Affairs Deepal Abeysekera, added, “Our aim is to make available the convenience of obtaining services using technology to all aspiring people of Sri Lanka, complimenting the services offered by our widest branch network of 638 branches and service centers.

Over 50 per cent of the total population of Sri Lanka obtain our services.”
