The public who are suffering with diseases in the area will be
supported with medicinal expenses and to uplift their economy which has
gone down due to sicknesses will be granted with financial help, said
the Minister of Power and Energy W. D. J. Seneviratne.
He was addressing a public meeting where financial and medicinal
facilities were granted for the public who were effected with the
disease of 'chikungunya' at the Ratnapura District Secretariat on July
2.
The Minister said "the public in this area could not earn money for
their cost of living during the past few months, because of the 'chikungunya'
disease which effected them very badly.
They were under financial difficulties because they couldn't do any
work and their income went down.
We are supporting them without considering about their party or the
colour.
I will specially look into these grants from which they can come up.
For the past few weeks the 'chikungunya' disease effected them.
We, and the public will launch a project to avoid this disease along
with the Health Authorities.
The MOH office at present instructs the public how to avoid these
viruses which are expanding within this area. We as social workers will
always look into the public in their regretful situations."
The District Organiser of Ratnapura and the former Vice Chairman of
the Provincial Council of Sabaragamuwa, Ranjith Bandara and the District
Secretary Malani Premaratne with many other officials and the public
participated at this event.
