WB gives Rs. 7,200 m for tank repairs

KURUNEGALA: Agriculture and Agricultural Development Minister
Maithripala Sirisena said the World Bank has allocated Rs. 7,200 million
to repair and re-construct 32 large-scale tanks to provide irrigational
facilities.
He said the 32 large-scale tanks have been selected from among a
number of tanks that have not been renovated and reconstructed for many
decades.
Victoria and Randenigala reservoirs will also be renovated, he said.
Reconstruction work will begin with the inauguration ceremony
attended by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Parakrama Samudra on
August 14 he said.
