Dilhara recalled for one-day series

The national selectors yesterday recalled fast bowler Dilhara Fernando for the five match one day international series against the touring Indian team which begins on August 18 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

Fernando has recovered following his leg injury which he suffered during the warm up match for the Board XI against India at the NCC ground in Maitland Place last month. Sri Lanka in fact have named the same squad that won the recent Asia Cup in Pakistan except for Jehan Mubarak who has been picked to represent the Sri Lanka A team for their tour of South Africa later this month.

The first two matches of the series will be played in Dambulla followed by three day night matches at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

The Sri Lanka team for the one day series against India: Mahela Jayawardena (captain), Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Chamara Kapugedera, Chamara Silva, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Chaminda Vaas, Kaushalya Weeraratne, Thilina Thushara, Nuwan Kulasekera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis, Mahela Udawatte and Dilhara Fernando.
