UAV makes emergency landing in Anuradhapura

ANURADHAPURA: An Air Force Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) was forced
to make an emergency landing near Nuwara Wewa, Anuradhapura due to a
technical failure yesterday morning, Air Force Spokesman Wing Commander
Janaka Nanayakkara said.
The UAV was forced to land near Nuwara Wewa around 9 a.m. due to a
technical defect.
“The UAV was sent to the Anuradhapura Air base and technical
inspection is in progress.
There were no damages reported to lives or property,” Wing Commander
Nanayakkara said.
Meanwhile, Air Force manning Peraru, South of Trincomalee recovered a
cache of arms and weapons including an Anti - Tank Mine weighing 50kg.
Wing Commander Nanayakkara said the Air Force which launched a search
operation in Peraru, unearthed a cache of arms and weapons buried inside
the Peraru jungle on Thursday around 4 p.m.
The Air Force recovered an ATM weighing 50kg, two claymore mines each
weighing 15kg and 8kg, 450 rounds of 7.2mm ammunition, 350 rounds of 9mm
pistol ammunition, detonator codes, electric detonators and APMs. |
