IGP hails Police, Forces' contribution to SAARC

The Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratne thanked all
Police personnel who contributed to the successful conclusion of the
15th SAARC Summit in Colombo recently.
The IGP also thanked the Three Forces for their great assistance
rendered to the Police Force during the SAARC Summit held in Colombo. "A
special word of thanks to the public and the Media who gave their
maximum cooperation and assistance to the Police and the Three Forces to
complete the SAARC Summit on a good note," the IGP said.
The security arrangements for the 15th SAARC Summit were held with
the consultation of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and several
Senior Police officers, including Senior DIGs N.K. Illangakoon, Kerthi
Gajanayake, Nimal Mediwaka, S.K. Shanker, the IGP said. Three DIGs were
assigned to look into the welfare of the 12,000 Police force who were on
duty during the Summit.
All Traffic Police Personnel did an excellent job during the Summit
providing maximum security arrangements for the delegations, the IGP
added.
The Civil Defence Council and several other organisations also
assisted the Police and the Three Forces in conducting the security
arrangements.
