GSK honours long-serving staff
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Pharmaceuticals, one of the first international
pharmaceuticals companies to serve Sri Lanka, has felicitated 16 of the
company's staff for long and dedicated service to the company and to the
nation.

Employees who have completed 20, 15 and 10 years of service were
honoured at the 2008 edition of GSK's annual Long Service Awards
ceremony at the Mount Lavinia Hotel recently.
Addressing staff gathered to felicitate their colleagues, GSK
Pharmaceuticals Managing Director in Sri Lanka Stuart Chapman said: "For
GSK, it is not only the work aspect that matters, but also the balance
that our people achieve between their work, family, friends and
spiritual life."
"At GSK, we strive to ensure that they have the right balance."
"GSK endeavours to provide a work environment in which people can
willingly and happily come together to give their best efforts towards
the achievement of extraordinary results," he said.
"GSK believes that people do their best work if they are operating in
an environment that allows them to do so and rewards them for their
achievements.
"At GSK, everyone has the opportunity to do meaningful and
challenging work, and everyone is continuously learning and developing
their professional potential."
Employees who were recognised for their long service received
handsome commemorative plaques and other rewards.
GSK's worldwide support to communities in the countries it operates
in well represented in Sri Lanka where one of the company's biggest
projects was the commitment of Rs 29 million in the aftermath of the
tsunami to help restore healthcare systems and improve service capacity.
Other more recent projects included the refurbishment of a ward at the
Welisara Chest Hospital and the donation of a fully-equipped High
Dependency Unit (HDU) to the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital. |
