Nawaloka new wing on track
Nawaloka Hospitals, is nearing completion of its 80,000 square-foot
new wing when completed will accommodate 100 more beds as well as a host
of other facilities.
The Hospital's ongoing expansion, at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion when
completed will house amongst other facilities, a well equipped emergency
treatment unit, an OPD, laboratory, pharmacy, consultation rooms, caf,,
ATMs, a maternity department complete with surgical theatre, delivery
room as well as private delivery rooms and an Out Bound Unit for
patients with post pregnancy defects, a neo natal unit, a MICU [Medical
Intensive Care Unit] with the latest facilities, a Sleep Lab [snoring
monitoring facility], dialysis unit, isolation room, seven ultra modern
surgical theatres [the Hospital will then have a total of 12 theatres],
a modern fertility centre, Nephrology unit, as well as a series of
villas and suites to cater to the more fastidious patients.

The villas and suites have been designed by a panel of
internationally recognised architects and consultants who specialised in
medical requirements, and each and every villa and suite will have a
water front view, as well as an aerial view of Colombo city.
Nawaloka Hospitals will score yet another first when they become the
first hospital [the new extension] in Sri Lanka to be equipped with
glass panel elevators.

"In recent times Nawaloka Hospitals were the first to introduce the
Philips FD 10-Angiography system with state-of-the-art technology. In
addition they were also the first to introduce a Comprehensive
Polysomnography System, as well as the first to introduce a
state-of-the-art pulmonary testing facility" Director/General Manager
Nawaloka Hospitals, Professor Lal Chandrasena said .
With regards to investment in new machinery and equipment, the
Hospital's Chief Financial Officer, Jayantha Perera said that during the
last financial year alone Nawaloka Hospitals had invested a total of Rs.
500 million in upgrading its facilities as well as in new equipment. He
added that the Hospital's nurse to patient ratio currently stood at one
to four.
This year saw Nawaloka Hospital's Brand Value rated at an all time
high of Rs. 636 million, while its Enterprise Value was rated at Rs.
2319 million, with the Hospital coming in at the 35th position in LMD's
top 100 companies.
