Advancing Troops kill more Tigers

Security Forces entered the Mullaitivu district and are in the process of advancing forward. They have captured two highly fortified bunkers and a firing range.

Twenty six LTTE cadres were killed including an area leader and many others injured in several clashes erupted in the Mullaitivu, Killinochchi and Vavuniya districts.

Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said the Army’s 59 division has launched heavy barrages and smashed two LTTE bunkers on Monday around 1.00 p.m. in Niththikaikulam, 9km North of Janakapura.

”Troops also captured a camp stretching across 3-4 acres including underground bunkers, trenches, a well, toilets and several collapsed buildings.

A 150m long firing range and a 120m mortar pad also were unearthed in the vicinity”, Brigadier Nanayakkara said.
