Natural beauty at House impresses SAARC Heads

KOTTE: Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara yesterday stressed that world
leaders who visited Parliament marvelled at the natural beauty
surrounding the Parliamentary complex.
"The South Asian leaders who arrived in Sri Lanka for the SAARC
Summit paid an official visit to the Parliament," he said .
"They spent a long time inside the Chamber and also viewed the
natural beauty outside Parliament," Speaker Lokubandara said.
"The world leaders were astonished by the natural beauty surrounding
the Parliament complex," he said.
"It is our responsibility to safeguard this kind of supreme
institution," the Speaker said. SAARC leaders visited the Parliament on
Sunday. The Speaker thanked Parliament staff who cooperated by reporting
to work even on their holiday.
"It is a great victory for us to successfully hold the 15th SAARC
Summit in a country like Sri Lanka which is to the threatened with
terrorism," he added.
