293,819 sit A/Ls this year

COLOMBO: The Examinations Department has made arrangements to ensure that the GCE Advanced Level examination which begins today is held without any problems, sources told the Daily News.

The examination will be held in 1,818 centres islandwide and will be monitored through 281 coordinating centres.

The examination will continue till September 3.

This year, 293,819 candidates will sit for the examination. Out of this, 199,062 are school applicants and the rest private applicants.

As a result of the Provincial Council Elections on August 23, the examination will be held in two stages.

The examination will not be held from August 22 to 24.
