The second stage of the Kelaniya flyover bridge is also now
nearing completion. The unique feature of the bridge is that it
is a pre-fabricated structure, which means the bridge was
manufactured in sections at the British construction company,
Mabey and Johnson Co. Ltd and later were assembled at the site.
Access Engineering Company Ltd. is the Local agent of Maybey and
Johnson Co. Ltd. of United Kingdom.

New levies to come
The Government has introduced an Environment Conservation Levy (ECL)
on several items with effect from 01 August 2008.
Motorcycles will be charged Rs.100 and petrol motor cars will be
charged from Rs 200-Rs.500 and diesel cars will be charged from Rs
300-Rs 800.
Bulbs exceeding 40w will be charged Rs.3 each except compact
fluorescent lamps.
Every Cellular Phone will be charged 2% on value of service each
month, with effect from August 15.
Television, Broadcasting & Telephone per tower will be charged Rs.
50,000 per annum from tomorrow (Aug 01) Each transmitting tower will be
charged Rs. 25,000 per annum by each user of single Transmitting tower.
