Tigers violate own 'ceasefire'

Tiger terrorists operating in Pooneryn area to the southwest of Jaffna directed a string of artillery attacks on the Forward Defence Lines (FDLs) of Muhamalai, Jaffna yesterday morning.

Ten artillery rounds fell on the FDL areas within a matter of few minutes, causing huge blasts with huge palls of smoke that covered the entire area.

Alert troops reacted to the volume of heavy fire taking necessary safety measures. Two soldiers sustained injuries in the fire.

Army troops videoed the explosion of LTTE artillery rounds, designed to harm the Security Forces manning the FDLs.

The terrorists while declaring a so-called 'unilateral ceasefire' in connection with the SAARC summit resort to practices that are fully contrary to what they profess, defence sources said.
