Over 175 journalists from the eight SAARC nations, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are expected to attend this media forum.

This year’s theme is ‘Freedom of Media in Conflict Situations’.

The two day regional gathering organised by the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA), an affiliate body of the SAARC Secretariat, is held annually in conjunction with the 15th SAARC Heads of State Summit.

The Forum includes a plenary session, where the delegates will discuss the country situation under the theme ‘Access to and free flow of information’. Each country will be given an opportunity to present their case.

The journalists’ summit declaration will be read out at the conclusion by SAFMA Secretary General Imtiaz Alam.
