Deer hunting hub near Yala raided

A deer hunting hub, adjoining the Yala Wildlife Sanctuary was raided by a team of wild life officers of the Deparment of Wildlife Conservation led by P.M. Dharmatilake, Assistant Wildlife Conservation Director (Yala Bundala region) on Saturday.

Six suspects from Ranminithanna with venison were taken into custody during the operation and handed over to police. Weapons including implements used to hunt and five bicycles were taken into custody.

Dharmatilake said the well organised hunting activities had been carried on for a long period.
