CIMA partner of SAARC apex bodies initiative

The SAARC CCCI, SAARC Law, and SAFA, under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, have organised a conference on the theme “Enterprise Governance and Social Responsibility” to coincide with the SAARC Summit in August.

The Conference will be held on July 31 at the Water’s Edge, Battaramulla.

Chairman of SAFA Committee Indrajith Fernando on behalf of the organising committee said, “Sri Lanka has been at the forefront of development of Corporate Governance practices and has been playing a leading role.

The practices of Governance and Social Responsibility are very pertinent to our region. It is timely and relevant to deliberate on practical issues.

The committee considering the stature and the esteem with which CIMA is held both by the business community and the Public Sector internationally decided to offer as the Principal Partner.”

“CIMA contributes significantly to the professionals in business worldwide and has contributed immensely to promote Enterprise Governance jointly with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) the global organisation for accountants,” Fernando said.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Sri Lanka Division is the principal partner for the conference. President of CIMA Sri Lanka division Gowri Shanker said, “CIMA as an institute is committed to upholding and enterprise governance. The theme of the conference reflects the challenge to the business entities in the developing nations.”

“CIMA with over 40 years of existence in Sri Lanka has produced very high profile business icons who have upheld CIMA values in their respective organizations. The instinctual depth of the CIMA fraternity in Sri Lanka can play an important role in assisting SAFA in its efforts.

Associating with SAFA as the principal partner for the conference gives CIMA a mutually beneficial advantage,” she added.
