Jaffna schools' education should be improved to int'l standards

Schools in Vadaradchy should offer their fullest contribution to
improve the standard of education in the Jaffna peninsula to
international standard, Government Agent Jaffna K. Ganesh said.
He was the chief guest at the annual prize giving of Hartley College,
Point Pedro, recently.Hartley College had preserved the cherished norms
of perseverance, exemplary leadership and the quality of good reputation
for nearly two centuries.
Despite being badly affected by ethnic disturbances, it has been
steered through turmoil and turbulence to achieve commendable progress
and achievement, the Government Agent said.
He said devoted and dedicated teachers whose resourcefulness and
sacrifice contributed immensely to the realisation of the desired goals
and aspirations of the founders amidst untold hardships.
He was proud to step into the premises where once the distinguished
sons of Sri Lanka such as Prof. Eliesar, Prof. Thurairajah former Vice
Chancellor of Jaffna University, our former Speaker K. B. Ratnayake
spent their school days.
He stressed the students should reap benefits of education to shape
and mould themselves morally, culturally and spiritually. |
