Lanka Ceramics sell stake to Ceylon Theatres
Turnover in the Colombo Stock Market was boosted by Dhammika Perera
controlled Royal Ceramics (RCL) selling its 26% stake in Lanka Ceramics
to the Ceylon Theatres group. RCL sold 7.3 million shares at Rs 47.00 a
share, valuing the stake at RS 343 million.
Lanka Ceramics closed at Rs 47.00, while RCL closed at Rs 44.00.
Other notable trades were in CIC (Rs 21 million) and AMW (Rs 15.4
million), which boosted total market turnover to Rs 503.7 million.
Bogawantalawa Tea Estates (BOPL) reported profits of Rs 74.3 million for
the year ended March 2008.
The company incurred a loss of Rs 112.3 the previous year. BOPL’s
turnover increased by 30% to Rs 2.7 billion. BOPL produces both high
grown and low grown tea. Its EPS was Rs 1.48, while its NAV was Rs
20.18. BOPL closed at Rs 28.25 Sathosa Motors (SMOT) released its annual
report for the year ended March 2008, showed an 8% increase in net
profits to Rs 100.7 million.
The turnover for the period increased by 27% to Rs 1.4 billion. The
company has the agency for Isuzu and Opel motor vehicles. SMOT”s EPS was
Rs 16.7, while its NAV was 67.04. SMOT closed at Rs 126.00 The market
closed down with the ASPI losing 5 points (-0.2%) to close at 2,440,
while the MPI which tracks the most liquid stocks lost 9 points (-0.3%)
to close at 2936. |
