Mercedes-Benz India rolls out new E-Class
E220 CDI |
Its place of prominence in the Indian luxury car segment constantly
receiving newer challenges by the day, Mercedes -Benz India has decided
to take the battle to its German cousins BMW and Audi with a major
revamp to its executive luxury segment car, the E-class.
To cope up with the changing times and cater to increasing demands of
the market, Mercedes-Benz recently rolled out two new E-class variants
and further extended its product range with the all-new E230 (petrol)
and E220 CDI (diesel) models.
The diesel segment in this class is gaining popularity and people
have started to accept diesel cars with an open mind. This has forced
Mercedes-Benz to introduce a first of its kind product in this market,
the new E 220 CDI with a 2.2-litre, four cylinder diesel motor.
“The E-Class has sold more than 10,000 units in India since its
introduction in 1995. Now the product becomes even more enticing with
introduction of the new Bi-Xenon headlamps in the exterior coupled with
a 3-way Memory package and electrically adjustable steering wheel, all
of which are now standard with the vehicle.
The two new engines will further add to the popularity of the E-Class
“ announced Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of
Mercedes-Benz India, while speaking to the media.

Nissan charged up on electric cars
Nissan is rapidly forging deals with cities and governments on
electric vehicles as soaring gas prices and worries about global warming
make the green technology surprisingly appealing, a senior executive
said Wednesday.
While other car manufacturers are concentrating on fuel cells and
hybrids, Tokyo-based Nissan Motor Co. is going all out on electric
vehicles, promising to mass-market the emissions-free cars globally in
2012, with the first models arriving in Japan and the U.S. in 2010. AP |
