All time record at CTA

An all time record price was obtained at the last Colombo tea auction for a line of Western Medium FBOP, Grade at Rs. 500 per kg.

The tea was manufactured by Orange Field Tea Factory and owned by Sebastian Retty and managed by Amaladas. The buyer was Imperial Teas Ltd and the selling broker was Mercantile Produce Brokers Pvt Ltd.

Domestic workers to get more

Hong Kong has announced that the minimum allowable wage for foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong would be increased by HK $ 100 (SL Rs 1,405) from HK $ 3,480 - HK $ 3,580 per month (Rs 50,291.84). The minimum allowable wage will be applicable to employment contracts signed on or after July 10.

The employment contracts signed on or before July 9 at a wage level not lower than the prevailing minimum allowable wage of $ 3,480 per month will still be processed by the Immigration Department.
