Launch of the South Europe Meets South Asia Project
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce with the financial assistance from
Asia Invest Programme of the European Commission is implementing a
partnership project titled "South Europe Meets South Asia" (SEMSA) to
promote business collaborations between South European and South Asian
companies in the IT and IT enabled services and Processed food sectors.
The CCC, being the lead applicant, will implement this project with
active support from its partners, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce &
Industry, Dhaka (MCCID), Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce &
Industry (FNCCI), Fundacion ADEuropa (ADE), Mondimpresa Euro Info Center
(MEIC), Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Drama (CCID) and the Chamber
of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (CCIS).
"South Europe Meets South Asia 2009" is scheduled to be held at the
BMICH, Colombo from February 27 to 28, 2009 and is expected to attract
around 120 Asian companies (60 from Sri Lanka, 30 each from Bangladesh
and Nepal) to meet with 60 South European companies (15 each from
Greece, Italy, Spain and Slovenia on a one on one basis during the two
day matchmaking event.
The main objective of "South Europe Meets South Asia" is to promote
technological and business collaborations between South Asian companies
from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal and South European companies from
Spain, Italy, Greece and Slovenia in the IT and IT enabled services and
processed food sectors, which will lead to increase in trade and
investment between the three South Asian countries and the four South
European countries. |
