State sector vacancies in Jaffna Peninsula to be filled - Minister

Action will soon be taken to fill-in the State sector vacancies in
Jaffna Peninsula within a short period, said. Social Services and Social
Welfare and Chairman of Special Task Communities Northern Province
Minister Douglas Devananda.
A large number of people flock daily to the Minister's office in
Jaffna seeking employment, of these some already had registered their
names for employment at the Minister's office at previous occasions. It
is also reported that a number of job applications have been received by
post.
Addressing a large group of people who had come to the Minister's
office seeking employment the Minister said "As I am now in Jaffna, all
the employment opportunities available will be made available under my
personal supervision within a short period of time to those who have
already registered their names at my office".
He said other job seekers would be provided with employment in due
course step by step.
Meanwhile, Minister Devananda said that arrangements have been made
for the Jaffna Government Agent to take over the Navatkuli Housing
Scheme and thereafter to award the ownership to the residents of the
Scheme.
He was speaking to a group of representatives from residents
Navatkuli Housing Scheme who met him at a discussion at his office in
Jaffna.
The Minister emphasised that after the awarding of the ownership the
renovations to the housing scheme would be carried out and those who
obtain their transfer deeds need to be resident thereafter. |
