Foreign national charged for criminal breach of trust

A 65 year old foreign national, Suyeru Nakayama was charged before Nugegoda Acting Magistrate, Suneeta Nanayakkara for criminal breach of trust in a sum of Rs. 3.5 million.

The suspect is alleged to have promised employment in Japan and had fraudulently received over Rs. 3.5 million from about 25 youths from different parts of the island.

He had conducted Japanese language training classes for the complainants for about six months and assured them that they would be sent to Japan in due course, it was alleged.

The suspect is temporarily residing at Vijayaba Place, Panawala Road, Nugegoda.

When the news that he had been making arrangements to leave the country surreptitiously came to light, the youths caught him and handed over to the police.

It was revealed that the suspect continued to be in the remand due to his failure to furnish bail as per the Court order, it was revealed.

The Nugegoda District Fraud Bureau is conducting investigations.
