PM congratulates Health Minister

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka yesterday congratulated Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva on his appointment as the new World Health Organisation Chairman.

"Your appointment to the prestigious post of the World Health Organisation Chairman is a victory for us at a time when a vicious disinformation campaign against Sri Lanka is on," Prime Minister Wickramanayaka said.

"You being unanimously elected to the high post is proof of the confidence reposed in you personally and the esteem the country is held in," he said.

"Steps taken by you to make Sri Lanka a country whose health service enjoy relatively a high standard deserve encomium. We wish you strength, courage and luck to discharge the responsibilities of your new post and render service to your Motherland," the Prime Minister added.
